It was great to be invited to join the Who Wants to Be a Twinner show and help the kids explore the world of AI in such a fun way.\u201d Brendan Hills (Customer Engineer, Google Cloud)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\u00a0the onset of the COVID-19\u00a0pandemic,\u00a0many schools were closed, upending children\u2019s education across the globe. There on after,\u00a0there\u2019s been a ceaseless\u00a0effort\u00a0by educational institutions\u00a0and\u00a0parents, and everything in between,\u00a0to\u00a0identify and mitigate\u00a0the\u00a0issues brought on by the\u00a0drastic changes to\u00a0children\u2019s\u00a0school life and home life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Twin, we take this situation to heart\u00a0\u2013 since our inception,\u00a0our understanding of our role\u00a0as an EdTech\u00a0company\u00a0has\u00a0meant\u00a0to us\u00a0that we\u00a0take active strides to becoming\u00a0a\u00a0leading\u00a0member of the community, one\u00a0that is committed to delivering\u00a0a better\u00a0education\u00a0for the coming generations.\u00a0With this in mind\u00a0and being cognizant of the realities wrought on by the pandemic, Twin has taken concrete steps towards\u00a0this goal\u00a0by starting our\u00a0STEM QUEST SHOWs in cooperation with Creative Futures Imperial College London and Royal Academy of Engineering.\u00a0Every week,\u00a0for a period of 12 weeks,\u00a0we welcomed\u00a0kids from around the world to spend an hour learning about science.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29314\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7.jpg 900w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7-300x169.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7-768x432.jpg 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7-480x270.jpg 480w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/twinscience-blog-banner-gercek-boyut-7-600x337.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Wants to be a Twinner?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea behind STEM QUEST was to engage kids\u00a0in fun and interactive activities while also teaching them\u00a0about new\u00a0fields within science. We\u00a0welcomed kids from all over to join\u00a0as our co-hosts, including\u00a0from countries like\u00a0Nigeria, United Kingdom, Turkey, Ghana, United States of\u00a0America, United Arab Emirates, and many more.\u00a0Each episode we reached over 200 students\u00a0\u2013 all of which were joining our\u00a0live\u00a0Zoom\u00a0sessions\u00a0through our live chat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.twinscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Screen-Shot-2020-12-21-at-4.44.44-PM-1344x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31097\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We created a game-show type environment to encourage kids to speak up and be engaged in the Q&amp;As\u00a0while making\u00a0sure to reiterate to those participating\u00a0that the session was not a competition\u00a0but a forum to discuss and explore\u00a0new information and skills.\u00a0Our co-hosts and moderators came from diverse backgrounds and\u00a0were accompanied\u00a0with years of experience in their fields, including\u00a0years spent as educators. Throughout our interactive show, we asked questions about\u00a0various fields of STEAM including physics, arts, zoology, space, and so much more! The kids were amazed to learn about all of these things\u00a0and actively engaged in problem solving to figure out\u00a0the\u00a0how\u00a0and why these things worked \u2013\u00a0and\u00a0why they mattered.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team worked to find the most entertaining and suitable questions for kids aged between 8-13, but we were not alone! Thanks to our dream partners, Mr. Sunday, Kamini, Vargini and volunteers from Google, we came up with unique content each show. Volunteers from Google shared their work and knowledge on computer programming as well as artificial intelligence. Their insight and perspective of life inspired kids a lot, and their support was highly appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.twinscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Screen-Shot-2020-12-21-at-4.55.44-PM-1386x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31098\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In each session we committed time to reflecting on what we learned and what we could do to continue discovering new things.\u00a0A significant\u00a0part of this discussion was talking about\u00a0Twing, Twin\u2019s flagship product,\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0a free mobile app\u00a0designed for children\u00a0to discover\u00a0scientific content using games and fun experiments.\u00a0After each show\u00a0we encouraged them to play and recreate\u00a0STEAM\u00a0experiments\u00a0at home so they could share what they learned with us in the next session.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was encouraging to see with each following episode\u00a0kids came with\u00a0renewed energy and\u00a0sense of\u00a0curiosity to discover more topics.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s Next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The outreach we were able to accomplish through this show was very impactful. It was so successful that we were encouraged to\u00a0continue the STEM QUEST into another season!\u00a0Twin is committed to increasing its outreach, especially during these times.
