{"id":9200,"date":"2020-01-24T11:41:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T08:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.twinscience.com\/?p=9200"},"modified":"2020-01-24T11:41:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T08:41:34","slug":"what-can-be-done-to-overcome-school-fear-in-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twinscience.com\/en\/blog\/what-can-be-done-to-overcome-school-fear-in-children\/","title":{"rendered":"What Can Be Done to Overcome School Fear in Children?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>CAN TERLER | Karaisal\u0131 Atat\u00fcrk Middle School English Teacher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The first day of school \u2013 we&#8217;ve all been there and seen it.&nbsp;Since school is oftentimes the first step kids take outside of the nest,&nbsp;it&#8217;s only natural&nbsp;that&nbsp;the first&nbsp;day&nbsp;is filled&nbsp;with&nbsp;mixed emotions ranging from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety on the children\u2019s part,&nbsp;as well as the&nbsp;parents\u2019.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some kids run from their parents\u2019 arms and into the classroom filled with&nbsp;other&nbsp;children&nbsp;without a second glance&nbsp;to their (most likely) misty eyed parents.&nbsp;Then there are&nbsp;the&nbsp;kids that&nbsp;resist going into the classroom,&nbsp;somewhat forced to leave their parents\u2019&nbsp;arms&nbsp;to enter&nbsp;school&nbsp;weighed down by&nbsp;fear and&nbsp;apprehension.&nbsp;Sometimes this&nbsp;experience&nbsp;can turn into a type of dread that keeps them&nbsp;from overcoming&nbsp;this&nbsp;particular fear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/okul-korkusu-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8846\" width=\"455\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/okul-korkusu-min.jpg 700w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/okul-korkusu-min-300x214.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/okul-korkusu-min-480x343.jpg 480w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/okul-korkusu-min-600x429.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bouts of irritability, introversion, crying, and stomach aches are just a few of the many symptoms a child might&nbsp;increasingly&nbsp;experience if they don\u2019t learn to conquer their fear of school.&nbsp;The roots of&nbsp;your child\u2019s&nbsp;fear&nbsp;could be&nbsp;wide ranging \u2013 some&nbsp;children&nbsp;might be simply overwhelmed with the change&nbsp;or some feel homesick,&nbsp;while&nbsp;others&nbsp;might&nbsp;carry certain anxieties about not being picked up at the end of the day.&nbsp;Ultimately, however, their fears and anxieties are real to them and may&nbsp;in the long run&nbsp;shape&nbsp;a child\u2019s experience and perspective&nbsp;about school and&nbsp;affect how well they adapt and excel&nbsp;in&nbsp;life.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-heading\"><strong>So,&nbsp;what can be done to&nbsp;help children overcome their fears?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Well, the&nbsp;<\/em><em>answer may be simpler than you think.<\/em><em>&nbsp;<\/em>It starts with&nbsp;talking to your child and listening to their fears.
