Firefly: A Mobile Learning Journey Bringing Light to Children

Across Türkiye, many children struggle with unequal access to education. In earthquake-affected regions, this gap has become even deeper. That’s exactly where Pınar, TEGV, and Twin Science joined forces to launch the “Design Inventors Firefly” Project. This unique mobile learning truck brings children STEM-based education blended with values, offering learning opportunities where classrooms cannot.

The Beginning and the Goal

Launched in November 2023 in Adıyaman, the project set out to bring hope and opportunity to children in earthquake-hit areas.

  • In its first phase, it reached 1,500 children.

  • Over the next five years, it aims to reach a total of 7,500 children.

More than just classes, the project is designed to nurture creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills, offering children an experience that builds both knowledge and confidence.

Partners – A Strong Model of Collaboration

  • Pınar (Yaşar Group): A trusted brand for 50 years, always prioritizing social responsibility. In this project, Pınar provided financial and operational support.

  • TEGV (Educational Volunteers Foundation of Türkiye): With years of experience running Firefly learning units, TEGV brought its educational expertise and direct connection with children.

  • Twin Science: By embedding STEM content and its “dual-wing education” approach, Twin merged technology with values, ensuring a well-rounded learning journey.

What Makes Firefly Innovative?

The Firefly truck is a mobile classroom that goes beyond four walls.

Inside, children discover:

  • 3D printers, electronic kits, and sensors

  • Hands-on digital content

  • Design thinking steps (empathy → ideation → prototyping → testing)

They don’t just learn STEM skills, but also values like teamwork, responsibility, and empathy. This transforms education from simple knowledge transfer into a life-shaping experience.

Impact Through Children’s Eyes

Feedback from children reveals the emotional power of this project:

  • When children proudly showed their prototypes to their families, their joy and sense of achievement became the most valuable outcome.

  • Teachers observed clear improvements in creativity, collaboration, and self-confidence among participating students.

Twin’s Contribution – The Dual-Wing Vision

Twin’s role went far beyond providing technology:

  • Dual-Wing Education Vision: Equipping children not only with scientific skills but also with values.

  • STEM + Values: Building empathy, teamwork, and sustainability awareness alongside tech literacy.

  • Accessibility: Thanks to Twin’s adaptable digital content, every child in the mobile unit could access meaningful learning.

For Twin, this project stands as a powerful proof of how technology and social impact can work hand in hand.

Sustainability and Long-Term Impact

The Firefly Project is more than just a mobile classroom, it’s a model for corporate social responsibility.

  • For companies: Pınar’s collaboration with TEGV and Twin sets an inspiring example.

  • For NGOs: Mobile learning solutions can transform outreach strategies in education.

  • For the future: Reaching 7,500 children is only the start. Firefly paves the way for education that is accessible, experiential, and value-driven.

Conclusion: One Light Can Brighten Thousands of Hearts

The Firefly Project proves what’s possible when strong partners come together, Pınar’s vision, TEGV’s field expertise, and Twin’s dual-wing approach. Together, they have created a spark that touches children’s lives in meaningful ways.

From inside a single truck, a light shines that may guide the future of education itself.
